Superior Spaces History
Established in 1962, Superior Engineering existed primarily to service the heavy industrial Midwest market. At the time, the bulk of Superior’s business resided in the prominent steel manufacturing industry along Lake Michigan, with occasional machine design, institutional, commercial and oil refining work.
In 1988, a new management team under the direction of Ronald L. Hunter formed the S\TEC Group, Inc. an employee owned company (ESOP) with Superior Engineering and Superior Design-Build, LLC’s as divisions under the S\TEC banner. This change facilitated a shift in how the company goes to market. The management team’s principals have shaped the company in what we our today.
Our parent company has grown and diversified into new fields taking on new challenges and establishing new clients nationwide that include Superior Spac-es in the commercial and medical interior design and furniture sales and SEMAC, LLC in the steel processing equipment design and custom machine fabrications.
Serving industry for over 48 years, the S\TEC family employs over 250 skilled professionals. Eighty five percent of our revenues are generated from repeat business and continuous services contracts from a multiplicity of clients in various business sectors. Management understands growth is essential to the long term vitality of the company. Since our origin in the steel industry, we have grown to service fields ranging from commercial, municipal, medical, educational and federal institutions, public utilities, food processing, petrole-um, pharmaceutical, general contracting, heavy and light manufacturing and chemical processing.

SEMAC with offices in Youngs-town, Ohio, provides process design, custom machinery design and fabrications of specialty equipment for the steel industries finishing mills.
